There are no club events scheduled. January 7th, 2008 - It's usually not an issue in January, but with the warm weather, I just wanted to remind folks that we've agreed to be more mindful of overflow parking used by the Farm Show Complex. Please check with the Farm Show events calendar for any major events before you head to the field. Nov 17th, 2007 - We have an upcoming vote for our 2008 Club Officers. Please give some thought about how much effort and dedication it takes to keep a club like our2 running. This is a very important function of the sport. Without these folks, we won't have a place to fly. Please attend and make your voice heard or think about running yourself. Checkout the newsletter, upcoming events, and directions to the meeting. Oct 7th, 2007 - The main flying season is coming to an end. For many, this means cleaning up the workbench and starting some new projects or fixing busted planes. When looking to modify your plane, one thing to consider is making it quieter. Being a good neighbor is being a quiet one. There are myths that making a model quiet ruins the ride or slows the plane. On the contrary, there are improvements possible with good techniques. This means matching your engines characteristics with the right prop size, prop pitch, and muffler. If you're looking for a company that's already figured it out, try Fly Quiet. July 27th, 2007 - Electric planes keep getting bigger. Check out this article on a full scale electric plane at the Airventure show at Oshkosk.. Soon we'll all fly around the country in these things. It looks interesting, but where will the white noise come from? Discuss this on the board. May 12th, 2007 - Events at any club are good for the entire modeling community. If you're able, visit the Fun Fly at Wings of Williamsport. This event is happening May 19th & 20th. You can find directions here. April 6th, 2007 - Training nights are starting April 11th under the direction of our VP, Bill James Jr. If you are available to be a trainer or are looking to get started in modeling, please contact him at vp@hafsonline.org. We are asking other folks to hold off on flying while our new modelers are earning their wings. It is very easy to get distracted by an experienced pilot burning up the sky with crash-defying barrel rolls. March 24th, 2007 - Spring is here again, time to dust off those models, test the engines and think about flying. Check out the AMA Contest Calendar for upcoming sanctioned events. February 25th, 2007 - While the Farm Show Complex is full swing, our club has agreed to be more mindful of our flight path. Please check with the Farm Show events calendar for any major events before you head to the field. February 4th, 2007 - It's cold out there! What better time to continue the tradition and earn that AMA All Season Flyer patch. It doesn't mean as much in Florida as it does here in PA. Just keep those batteries fresh. January 26th, 2007 - A new type of Radio control system is available for typical model aircraft. It was reviewed recently Model Aviation. This is a very intriguing development, that could help alleviate interference concerns and bring scale events back to our flying site. Check out these articles on the 2.4Ghz DSM system available at the Spektrum website, the RC Groups website or our own forum. September 9th, 2006 - Harrisburg Area Flying Society was presented with a new U.S. flagpole on behalf of the Woodmen of the World Organization. The was sponsored by local lodge 364 out of Hershey. Mrs. Kyle Negurney, Director of Development and Marketing from the PA Department of Agriculture graciously consented to be the guest speaker at this event. The organization is dedicated to patriotism and respect for country. Please visit their website at http://www.woodmen.org/. |
